    Filter Rule issue

Having a issue with a filter rule that "kinda" works.  What this means is, I have it set on a dropdown field.   WHen the user selects an item in the dropdown field, it should prepopulate 4 other fields.

1.) When I select the FIRST item in the dropdown, it  WORKS and prepopulates the other fields.

2.) If i go to select the second or any other item in the dropdown, it does NOT find anything.  Matter of fact, it does nothing.  I would have expected it to refresh, but it doesn't.

3.) If I start with the second or any other item in the dropdown list, it also doesnt find anything.......

    My rules on the dropdown   RULE 1 = concat("FilterOwssvr /dsname=ExternalOwssvr /filter=External_x0020_Facility /value=", .)

                                            RULE 2 = set field value = @ows_External_x0020_Facility_x0020_Ad

                                                           ...................................

the postback setting on the dropdown is set to = ALWAYS.........

Anybody seeing this or can provide a solution?

    Chris

    Hi Chris-

I would imagine there's a problem with the rules, since the first one works and the rest don't. Can you attach the form (via the Options tab) so we may look at the form logic?

    Thanks!

The limit on uploads is 128kb.   the form is 158kb.  Can this limit be increased?

Ok, I guess one first step might be to drag the data connection to the canvas, and verify whether the correct data is loaded after the first rule. That is: is the filter working as expected?

Can you try that as a first step?

    Thanks.

Sorry Chris, I'm not sure what could be going on.

Perhaps try to set this up in a new, simpler form, where this is the only thing happening. Maybe that helps us isolate the issue, and allows you to attach the XSN.

Where's the dropdown that kicks off the FilterOwssvr rule? I see the rule in the form logic, and it looks ok, but I don't see a dropdown.

I just thought of another troubleshooting step you might want to take, and that is to display the /my:myFields/my:SDFI/my:StudyDirectorName field in the canvas, and manually type in values (and then tabbing out). This should make the action fire. Display the /xml/rs:data/z:row on the canvas to look at the raw data that is coming in from the SDOwssvr data connection. This manual check would allow you to narrow down whether the problem is in the rule itself, or in the dropdown config.

Let us know how it goes. Thank you.

Just so we are on the same page, i am looking at the ExternalOswrr filter.   your troubleshooting is talking about another filter.......  Again ernesto... this filter fires but on for the first item in the list only. to me, this tells me it does work......kinda right?

I guess I'm looking for the rule/control that kicks off the qRules command. I don't see that on /my:myFields/my:ExternalInformation/my:ExternalFacilityName.

    When I look thru Logic Inspector, I don't see this: concat("FilterOwssvr /dsname=ExternalOwssvr /filter=External_x0020_Facility /value=", .)

Can you execute the data connection that populates the dropdown (External Facility Name) and the data connection that filters (ExternalOwssvr) but without any filters, that is, to get all data back? I don't see anything in the rules to cause only the first option of the dropdown to filter, so maybe there's something in the data itself. If you don't want to post that data here, email it to me.

    Thanks.
