Conditionally Require a Multi-selection List Box

    Hi all,

I'm in IP 2010, which will be obvious I guess, when you read the question.  In my form, I have many fields that are conditionally required based on answers/data in other fields.  I have some multi-selection list boxes that I would like to make conditionally required to have one selection... but have discovered that there is not an option to add a validation rule on this control type.

I've searched the web and books and can't see any reference to a work around to do this or not.  Is it possible to make a multi-select control required based on answers in other fields?

    Thanks!

    Jen

I'd never noticed that before - yup, repeating fields don't allow validation rules!

    Some ideas:

    1. Block submit if your conditions aren't met - use rules for submit and have the first one check that your repeating fields have at least one entry if the other fields have whatever makes it required - and display a message for the user
    2. Leverage another helper field - put the validation rules on it - see attached example - it is kind of rough, but gives you an idea of what I mean.
