    File Size

How can I reduce an InfoPath form's file size?

My .xsn form has grown to just over half a MB!  This isn't a problem for most of us hardwired, however there are many that are on the road, using the wi-fi at Hampton Inn, and this file size is almost unbearable!

since its creation, my form has ballooned to 40 views, 4 data connections to the GAL, different sharepoint lists, and a file reference for tabs and line breaks in text boxes.

I exported all the source files to find out what was so big.

turns out, I have an company logo (14KB) at the top of each view and InfoPath saved the same logo as 40 different instances!; one for each view (560KB I'm thinking)!  I went in to each view (.xsl), made them reference the same logo.png, then altered the manifest such that it only looked for one .png.  I then deleted all unnecessary files and repackaged.  The form works correctly, however it only saved me 22KB when packaged!

Other big source files: manifest.xsf, offlineSataSources.xml

And there are multiple instances of data connections, some taking up more space than others, i.e.:

    References1.xsd
    References2.xsd
    References3.xsd
    References4.xsd

Can I delete the older ones?  How do I cleanup manifest.xsf?

Any help optimizing my form for file size would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the sizes of the individual files in the template?  I think the main issue here is that you have 40 views.  How large is each view XSL file?

The multiple XSD files aren't multiple instances of data connections.  When a data connection involves more than one XML namespace, there is a separate XSD for each namespace and I don't think anything can be done about that.

I'd suggest trying to find if there isn't a way to streamline your process a bit so it doesn't require quite so many views.
