    DataConnectionError

    Hi All,

I have been building InfoPath forms in 2010 and integrating them with Sharepoint 2010 without issue over the past 12 months or so.  Recently something changed that has stopped me using SharePoint lists as secondary data connections but I am unaware of what this could be.  I've spoken with the SharePoint administrators and they cant think of anything that has changed in this timescale that would affect InfoPath.

I can open InfoPath and create a plain form no problem.  When I go to add a data connection I can walk through the wizard picking the list I want to use and it will accept this.  When I go to preview the form the following error message appears:

    Failed connection to data source

One or more data sources required to fill out this form cannot be reached.  Should InfoPath continue trying to connect to data sources for this form?

    Details:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: SP_Supplier_List DS
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
Unable to connect to the SharePoint site.
InfoPath either cannot connect to the data source or the service has timed out.

I've tried different lists and created lists of my own to try and the error applies every time.

I can view and edit all the lists directly in SharePoint no problem.

Other users with similar permissions are not having this problem.

If I go back to a form I created prior to this issue I get the error appearing.

If I log into another PC I get the same issue where someone else is successfully creating a form.

It doesn't seem to be a security issue although I have tried changing the settings to 'Full Trust' without any joy.

Has this happened to anyone else?  Is there anything else I could try to narrow it down?  It just seems strange that it has been working without issue for so long and then one day it doesn't.

This does not tell anything. It is possible to create a form even if unplug network connection cable.
It does not require network access

I believe it is still possible to do offline due to Infopath or browser cache

Is it for old, previously used lists?

I would have tried to clear Infopath and browser cache.

As well as in list advanced settings disabled Offline Client Availability.

Can you create anything at all in sharepoint because references to accessing previously used sharepoint entities (lists) can be due to cache or client offline availabulity

This sounds like network access problems. I would have looked into eventvwr and used fiddler2 (or wireshark) for more details.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for responding. The IT administrators are currently looking at resolving this issue (but as with everything public sector, it's taking some time as it isn't a priority). Hopefully they'll identify the answer rather than fix it without really knowing what they did.

    Thanks again,

    Sophie

    Hi All,

The problem has now been resolved. The issue lay with some firewall settings that have now been modified.

    Thanks,

    Sophie

    Sophie,

I know this is an old post but I am running into this same exact issue and our SP guys are not able to answer what is happening.  Would you be able to explain what FW changes were made that helped in getting this to work on a more consistent basis?  I do appreciate any asisstance on this. I pasted your original comment up top.

     Thanks, Joe
