    I'm having difficulty applying CSS to infopath forms.

     I have searched quite a bit but the info I get isn't helping. It seems the consensus is to save the forms as source files. How exactly do you do this with InfoPath 2010? When I customize a SharePoint list form and click save as, it only lets me save it as a template and not as an .xsn file.

    I also noticed that you can actually target all textboxes in a CSS file that overrides the SP core.css file but it is kinda unpredictable.

     By adding:

    input[type="text"]

    I was able to style the infopath textboxes but only the infopath ones which was strange. Also when I added:

    input[type="select"]

    it only allowed me to style the dropdowns using the :hover or :focus attribute which was also strange.

    I would like to get at the html without all the garbage that SharePoint spits out if that's possible because I don't know all the generic input selectors for all the available controls in InfoPath.

    It is not consensus, it is for Force Majeure workarounds.
    For example, take a look:

    IceThatJaw:
    When I customize a SharePoint list form and click save as, it only lets me save it as a template and not as an .xsn file

    When I click Save or Save As, it only lets me save it as .xsn file

    To save as source files in IP 2010, under File -> Publish, you'll find Export Source Files.
