    SubmitToSharePointList with attachment Read Only

    Hi,

I am using qRules 4.2 trial, have a form using Infopath 2010, Sharepoint 2010, to submit data to a Sharepoint list with an attachment. Every was running fine, and the attachmet is R/W. Now I have a request to have this attachment Read Only, and after remove qRulesLink/qRulesFilename, rebuild the XML, I still have this attachment as R/W.

Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong ?

    Hi,

I'm not sure that I understand the question...

The qRules command will simply extract the file attachment into the document library you specify, but qRules won't set permissions on the document library. You can control document library permissions just like any other SharePoint library.

I don't know what you mean by this: "after remove qRulesLink/qRulesFilename, rebuild the XML", sorry! Can you explain the scenario and let us know how qRules is failing?

    Thanks.

    Hi Ernesto,

my previous form was built using SaveToSharePoint command where I had a process to replace the File by Http in @qRulesLink field. Doing this I was changing the attached file from Read only to R/W.

When I did change to SubmitToSharePointList command, I was guessing the process could be quite similar, but it is not. Unfortunately the attachment is always uploaded based on Sharepoint permissions and the user that is filling the form in, must have EDIT as part of the permission set. My original intent was to include all Sales force in a group only to add information, including an attachment to an item in Sharepoint list, but unfortunately to execute SubmitToSharePointList, EDIT is required, and I do not know why. If EDIT is not set to the group, the user is prompt to inform his credentials all time.

Re: SubmitToSharePointList with attachment Read Only

    Hi,

    I'm sorry, I don't think I quite understand.

qRules depends on SharePoint permissions. So the individual user's permissions do matter when using the SharePoint-related commands included in qRules.

I haven't tried but I think that if we had a form with custom code, the behavior would be similar. That is, qRules isn't doing anything differently than what code would accomplish, given the same SharePoint permissions.

But, again, perhaps I am misunderstanding. Please let me know more about what you're observing and we'll try to answer. Thanks.

Re: SubmitToSharePointList with attachment Read Only

    Hi Ernesto,

sorry by my confusion, maybe it is due a language translation. My original request was to submit a form to a Sharepoint list with an attachment Read Only. Using SubmitToSharePointList I am able to do, but the attachment is R/W. I made a mistake, assuming I had the same process than using SaveToSharePoint and doing the replacemet of File by Http in @qRuleLink field that changes Read Only by a R/W option.

Now I figure out that this is not related to qRules, but Sharepoint user's permissions, and knowing that I configured a security group with Add Item and Exclude Item, and unchecked Edit Item to the Sales people and  I notice that all time I was trying to execute SubmitToSharePointList, the user was being prompt to inform his credentials. At this point does not matter how many times I inform the correct Login/Psw, I never have the attchment sumbitted.

Any idea how to solve this problem ?
