conditional formatting does is not received when submitted

I am new to InfoPath. I have a simple conditional format that will take the date from a date picker and turn the background to red and the text to white when it is more than a few days past. I can see the formatting works as I fill out the form, but after submission, it the formatting is not there for the recipient. I'm using this formula "addDays(today(), -2)"

Could it be because today is dynamic? That is, the date may change? Perhaps you want to base the conditional formatting on a field value instead?

    Just a guess....

    Thanks for the response, Hilary.

Lame me does not know, off the top of my head, how to do that with a date picker (the requested control). I follow what you meant, but I have been able to use it in the preview and it all works fine. It just doesn't make it to the receiveing end with th formatting. Any further thoughts?

I'm wondering if I'm just having some trouble understanding what you are doing. :-)

So, you have a date picker on your form. And you need conditional formatting based around the date in that control less 2 days? I'm attaching a little sample that does something like this - the logic may not be exactly the same as what you are doing. Save it locally, right click on the file and select design to open in design mode. From there you can preview. Save the XSN and try filling it out and re-opening the saved XML and see if they work as expected.

I guess I need to pay more attention to my spelling and grammer  :-)

The file you sent works fine, although when I open it in the developer, it gives me an error stating "Date calculations are not supported". I'm using Info 2010, but saving as a 2007 so that all can use it here. I guess it is possible my issue lies here.

You have used a section to contain your date picker wher I am placing mine into a recursive table field. I try to change the background color of the field. I'm attaching an example of what I'm doing.

Okay, so if I fill out your form today, and save the file, any date that is 8/1 will be highlighted red - today.

But if I open the saved file tomorrow, any date that is 8/2 would be highlighted red. Is that what you want?

No. Sorry. You caught me. I meant to put less than instead of equals.

I find that if I copy the rule to one or more of the other fields, they will format correctly. It must just be the picker that I cannot effectively change.

Thank you for your help Hilary. I would not have thought to even try sending the formatting to another field until you shared your example. If, you come up with a way to change the picker, I'd like to know. Thanks again.

    :-)

Honestly, I'm slow today, because the form you sent works just the way I expected. Where are you having a problem? You originally said:

after submission, it the formatting is not there for the recipient

Can you show a screenshot or something of what isn't working the way you expect?

Since I haven't figured out how to make two attachments, I will just reply twice. Attached here is the before submission image.

My second message did not go through due to some moderator filter, so I'm sending it again. Here is the after image.

The control in the second image doesn't look like a date picker. Is it the same control? Or is it open in IPFS (can't remember off hand if the calendar shows always in IPFS).

Yes, it is the date picker. This is the image I receive in my Outlook email.

Oh. I guess it never occurred to me to ask how you were submitting - I'd assumed you meant in the re-opened form.

I'd probably add a section meant to be displayed while emailing that had the form info in expression boxes or something instead. Controls don't always format nicely in email.

The first few posts in this thread outline this method.
