What are the minimum roles/permissions that DBXL requires for SQL Server and SharePoint access?

Background: The project I am working on will be using InfoPath forms to allow users to enter data into forms which will submit data to a SQL Server database for reporting purposes and simultaneously submit the same data to SharePoint lists to make use of SharePoint features such as generating MS Word documents, search, version control, etc. The database and lists are for the exclusive use of this project.

I am setting up DBXL for the first time and need to grant DBXL permissions to the database being created to support our application. DBXL is running as a domain user account and is able to successfully connect to the database server. InfoPath forms will need to be able to add and update records in SQL Server and SharePoint.

    1. What database-level roles are required by DBXL? I am assuming db_datareader and db_datawriter. Would denying delete permissions cause problems with DBXL “housekeeping”?

    2. I assume granting the DBXL domain account access to the SharePoint lists as one would do for any user is sufficient. As with the above question, would denying delete permissions cause problems with DBXL “housekeeping”?

    Regards,

    Darian.

For question 1, you are correct, db_datareader and db_datawriter are all that's needed.

For question 2, I replied about writing to SharePoint lists in your other forum discussion. DBXL won't write directly to SharePoint lists. When writing to SharePoint form libraries, we assume DBXL's app pool is running under the same identity as the SharePoint - 80 app pool.

    Ernesto,

Since I will have to use qRules to write the InfoPath form data to SharePoint lists, is the data written to the list by qRules done so using the user’s credentials who is submitting the form?

    Darian.
