making some CAML fields read only

Ok so I setup a CAML submit to sharepoint (took me 3 days, turns out you have to include all required fields) and now I have all sorts of cool "hacks" that filter my CAML repeating list to hide thnigs like the ID and Title. Now my problem is I want to show a "Questions" field and an "Answers" field BUT I want the Questions field to be read only while allowing the Answers field to be edited. Seems that I can only make either all of them read only or not.

My question is can I somehow make a rule and edit it in the .XSF file to make very specific fields readonly?

Like maybe in this:

<xsf:rule caption="Set Question" isEnabled="yes">
<xsf:assignmentAction targetField="xdXDocument:GetDOM("mapping")/Batch/Method/Field[@Name = "Question"]" expression="d:Question[../d:ID = xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:myFields/my:SelectedRowReflection]"></xsf:assignmentAction>
</xsf:rule>

I think the read only piece will be in the view (xsl) not in the manifest.... but since Field is repeating, I don't know that you'd be able to change it there. What about conditional formatting? If "@Name" = "Question", read only?

I have conditional formating rules but I dont see the ability to make it "read only" ... The only options I see are "hide" and "dont allow insert or delete", aside from all the text formating capabilities.

I think the condition would have to go on the Name attribute? And then you could "Disable this control"? Another option would be to show an expression box or a text box display based on the value....
