    conditional action on submit button

    Hi,

    I have a form,  and on the form there is a checkbox my users can check if additional support is needed.   I have added a data connection to my form that sends an email to a support alias.

    What I'm now trying to do is on the submit button,  is I want it to submit to the data connection but only if the checkbox is checked.   But I cannot seem to get it to work,  is there a way to put a conditional action on a submit button?

    I've tried

    If checkboxa = true submit to data connection...

    But nothing is happening.

    Anyone know?

    So are you saying that you have a rule with the condition "checkboxa = true", but the submit never happens?  Perhaps you should double check the settings on your checkbox to confitm that "true" is actually the value it has when it is checked.

     Hi,

    thanks for replying;

    I know that the condition is correct,  because I'm using it to hide/unhide sections within the form and they work OK.

    It's just not working on a submit button,  it should right?

    What happens if you remove the condition completely?  Does it work then?  Might there be some other rules that are closing the form before that one has a chance to execute?

     The form submits to the SP library OK,  but it's not sending the email like it's suppose too.

    If I create a separate button,  and just create an action rule it will send to the data connection that sends the email and submits to the library OK.
    It just doesn't like the conditional rule on the button.

    Is the button using a rule to do the SP library submit, or is it doing it some other way?  If it's not a rule, I would suggest changing your button to use only rules, and make sure that there aren't any rules closing the form before everything is submitted.

     ah, that was it.   I always forget that the rules have to be in order of execution.

    I had my new rule last,  and the switch screen rule was ahead of it.   I moved it up,  and now it seems to be working.
