InfoPath Dev

I am very (very) new to infopath and after spending many hours on a project, I went to preview what I had done and came across this error message:

Infopath cannot open a new form. The form template is not valid.

When I click More Details, this is what I get:

The form definition (.xsf) file cannot be opened because of an error.
The file cannot be validated by the XML Schema.

The keyref 'ruleSet_3' does not resolve to a key for the Identity Constraint '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/solutionDefinition}ruleset_name_key'.

Any ideas for how to fix this? I have searched multiple forums to no avail. Help is very much appreciated.

I can probably help you - but this will require a manual modification to the form files. Can you attach your template under the Options tab in a reply? I'll see if I can fix it up for you.

In the process of following a suggestion on another forum, I changed the file extension on the .xsn to .cab, and extracted the files. Here is the manifest from it (I would give you the .xsn if I could open the file and save it as that again, but I can't).

Could you rename from .cab back to .xsn and attach the whole template? I won't know if I have it resolved if I can't open the template, and I can't open the template w/out all the files. Thanks!

This is very odd - when I try to download this, I get an XML file instead of an XSN. Perhaps just attach the CAB you got the manifest from?

I have downloaded it as XSN though it gives the error described in 1st post on the attempt to open it in Infopath Designer 2010, failing to open it.

After renaming .xsn to .cab I cannot unpack it getting, in translation from Russian: "Archive not found"

I have actually figured it out myself - I saved the file on my computer, right clicked the .xml file, chose edit, and deleted the part with ruleset_3 in it (as referenced in the error message). This was the code I deleted:

                  <xsf:button name="CTRL472">

                                  <xsf:ruleSetAction ruleSet="ruleSet_3"/ 

               ></xsf:button>

 

       Saved and exited, renamed the file extension from .xml to .xsn. Then I put this file in the same folder as the rest of the items that were extracted from the original .xsn (myschema.xsd, template.xml, upgrade.xsl, etc.)

       The file is opening like it used to, and it seems the problem is fixed.
