Using Infopath 2010 to Open Forms from 2003 is Very Slow

I am using WSS 3.0, Infopath 2003, and Windows XP Pro PCs.  We are migrating to Windows 7 PC with Office 2010 and Infopath 2010.  When I use Infopath 2010 to open the existing forms, it takes approximately 15 seconds (versus 2 seconds with Infopath 2003).  Similarly it takes approximately 10 seconds to submit a form (versus 2 seconds wtih Infopath 2003).  I do not see any error messages on either the open or the submit.  Infopath 2010 is running on a new PC that is several times faster than the old desktop with Infopath 2003.  What can I do to improve the performance of Infopath 2010?

Performance should actually be improved moving to 2010, but there may be some specific items in your form which is slowing down performance.  Take a look at this article and see if any of these may be the issue in your form: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb380251(v=office.12).aspx.  The article is for 2007, but should also apply to 2010 as well.

What sort of submit actions are you performing?

Thanks. I did some more testing and investigation. I created a form in Infopath 2010 that had minimal data and the submit only saved five fields to Sharepoint. Opening a blank form was quick but opening a form that included data from Sharepoint was still slow with Infopath 2010 but fast with Infopath 2003. I have several different PCs so I checked the performance of each. All of the PCs are communicating to the same instance of WSS 3.0 running on Windows Server 2003 and the form was built with Infopath 2003

    1. Old Dell, Windows XP Pro, Infopath 2003: 2 seconds to open a form with data

    2. Old Dell, Windows 7 32-bit, Infopath 2010 32-bit: 15+ seconds to open a form with data

    3. Old Dell, Windows 7 64-bit, Infopath 2010 64-bit: 3-4 seconds to open a form witih data

    4. New Dell, Windows 7 64-bit, Infopath 2010 32-bit: 15 seconds to open a form with data

    5. New Dell, Windows 7 64-bit, Infopath 2010 64-bit: 2 seconds to open a form with data

I would have thought that the 64-bit version of Infopath would cause the problem because the form was designed with Infopath 2003 but the data suggests otherwise. I am still looking for any other configuration difference to explain the performance difference (besides 64 vs. 32 bit Infopath). On the two new Dell PCs I compared IE settings and they were identical.  Suggestions?

    Hello,

We had been having the same issue for a long time.  But finally we could solve the issue by below process.

I hope you can solve the issue by the same process.
