Thanks. I did some more testing and investigation. I created a form in Infopath 2010 that had minimal data and the submit only saved five fields to Sharepoint. Opening a blank form was quick but opening a form that included data from Sharepoint was still slow with Infopath 2010 but fast with Infopath 2003. I have several different PCs so I checked the performance of each. All of the PCs are communicating to the same instance of WSS 3.0 running on Windows Server 2003 and the form was built with Infopath 2003
1. Old Dell, Windows XP Pro, Infopath 2003: 2 seconds to open a form with data
2. Old Dell, Windows 7 32-bit, Infopath 2010 32-bit: 15+ seconds to open a form with data
3. Old Dell, Windows 7 64-bit, Infopath 2010 64-bit: 3-4 seconds to open a form witih data
4. New Dell, Windows 7 64-bit, Infopath 2010 32-bit: 15 seconds to open a form with data
5. New Dell, Windows 7 64-bit, Infopath 2010 64-bit: 2 seconds to open a form with data
I would have thought that the 64-bit version of Infopath would cause the problem because the form was designed with Infopath 2003 but the data suggests otherwise. I am still looking for any other configuration difference to explain the performance difference (besides 64 vs. 32 bit Infopath). On the two new Dell PCs I compared IE settings and they were identical. Suggestions?
