How does an InfoPath form key to Access?

I posted earlier and didn't get any replies, so let me try and simplify my question and maybe that will help me better articulate the rest...

I'm trying to figure out how InfoPath links to the Access database, specifically, how does it know what record to update?  I have a form, and I've filled it out, saved it, submitted it, then gone back into the form and changed every single data field, saved it with a different name, and submitted that version, and it still just updates the initial record with the updated data.  I don't understand HOW it knows what record to update when I resubmit with every field changed.

    Help please!  Thanks!

How will a field's renaming change underlying binding to a field in MS Access table?

And which  one you think it should update?

Re: How does an InfoPath form key to Access?

I'm submitting to an Access database, so my expectation is that a new record would be created, or if I violate primary key rules, I would get an error, and the submission would fail.  This is the behavior if I fill out a new form from the template and submit.  What I'm trying to figure out is how InfoPath knows what record in a database to update if I've changed the primary key values.  If there are 100 records in the table that my InfoPath form is updating, it has to somehow know which out of those 100 records to go and update.  I don't know how it's doing that if I've changed the primary key values in the form before submitting - where's the link?  More importantly, is there a way to stop this behavior so that if I submit the form, it always creates a new record instead of updating the existing record in the database?
