Digitally Sign (Full Trust) InfoPath Forms

I am brand new to InfoPath 2010 and have built a form for new hires for the company.  I would like to be able to have a manager fill it out and email it to HR for them to post as a workflow in SharePoint.  I am seeing that in order to email the form and have the attachment in the email (to review and then post to SharePoint) I will need it to be digitally signed with full trust.  I also see that a self signed cert is not enough.

We have a certificate server but I cannot get the certs to show up when I try to pick it in InfoPath.  When I go to form options, security and try to pick the cert, there are none listed and it states that "No certificates meet the application criteria".  I tried to use a wildcard cert we have with the private key and that also does not show up when I try to select a certificate.

What do I need to do to get a cert that meets its criteria in a step by step fashion?  What type of cert would I need to obtain from the certificate authority.  A detailed response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Microsoft seems to play jokes since  certificate server can be installed even on workstation but certificates are not recognized even from some servers operating systems less than:

    • Windows Server 2008 R2 (standard or greater, like Enterprise)
    • Windows Server 2003 (2003 R2) Enterprise
    • Windows 2008 Enterprise

Upon installing the AD Certificate Services Role and  creating enterprise CA, you also need to create a self-signed certificate and SSL binding for website (Note that one must issue the certificate from HTTPS web enrollment site but not HTTP). Then, to copy of the code signing certificate since the default code signing certificate does not allow to export private key.

Well, there are many step-by-step articles describing the certificate enrollment process. Fro example, this one

     thanks!

I was in fact using the wrong certificate and your answer above is my last part of my issue ha ha.

    1.  I needed to setup a code signing certificate on our Microsoft CA, request one, download it, and set it inside of InfoPath.

    2.  In order to do what I really wanted to do, I would need to have my CA on an enterprise server (we have standard) so that it also has the private key.

    Thanks for the reply!
