    Add form as list attachment

As from the subject, I would like to use a data connection / web service / workflow to add the opened form as an attachment to a list item in MOSS 2007.

The form won't be opened for editing once it is added as an attachment (either from the document library or list). Any ideas?

What other details do you need?

Let me try to explain the situation a little more in-depth. I have a non-browser form (A semi-official document of sorts) in which is connected to a document library. It will be published and edited several times until a certain point in which we would like to archive it. This is where it gets a little complicated...

I have a bunch of workflows feeding information into various lists as trackers. One such tracker is going to be an archive of all of the documents as well. Seeing as though as all of my users tend to break processes if it isn't automated, I would like to add the form as an attachment to corresponding list item for archival purposes. Attached to the list item as well will be a scanned copy of a hand-signed version (But that will be manual). The end result is supposed to be composed of the form, signed form (the scanned version), and other various attachments. Since the users attach the various documents to the form as is, it would be great if the form could just be attached so that all versions and attachments are in the same place.

Let me know if none of this makes sense, I'm running on very low batteries at the moment.

    Thank you for your help!!

I think you'd need a custom workflow action - unless you want to do this from the form itself? It can be done from within the form with code - you'll need your list item ID and can use the AddAttachment web method. qRules also has a command that will do this, if the form has been submitted so that the URL to it will have the latest data.

qRules is beyond my capabilities, as my organization has to approve of the software first (and they take their time), then transferred to other networks, etc. I'd rather do this within the form itself, could you give some more information about the AddAttachment web method? I've looked it up, and I have a few questions; when adding it as an attachment to another list, what would be the best method to pull the specific ID? There is a text field that is copied over via workflow, but I can't find a good way. Also, in a data connection query, how ins the information stored in the form when you're pulling from another list? I know from the same list you can pull the open form, but for a different list it doesn't have that option.
