To use this feature, Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 must be set as the default e-mail program.

    Hi,

I have Office Professional 2010 (everything but InfoPath and SharePoint Designer, which are both 2007) .  I have clients using Office 2010 and clients using Office 2007, so when I develop an InfoPath form, I do it in 2007 to avoid compatibility issues.  I've been doing it this way for a couple of years.  Now, I get the error message above when trying to preview a form that has an email submit data connection, along with squawks about InfoPath not being able to submit the form and the error happening during form submission.

I get the error whether I'm previewing or have published to the test library.

I'm currently repairing Office, although I don't think that will help.  It might have something to do with the order in which the office programs were installed.  This happened once before, and we fixed it, but I had a lovely hard drive crash and had to reinstall everything on a new hard drive. Windows 7 (now), if that matters.  The hdd crash was in February; the error's just appearing now in what was formerly a browser form and is now a client form.

    Help, please.

    Thanks (again),

    Nancy

When it was being used as a browser form, the email submit wouldn't depend on what was installed on your machine.

You can design InfoPath 2007 compatible forms using InfoPath 2010 - I try to keep everything the same version of Office on my machine (and keep a VM with Office 2007 for use with IP Visual Studio projects).

Hi Hilary.  I was talking to one of our network guys today and that was his suggestion, as well.  It turns out that SP3 for Office 2007 broke it.  I had to uninstall both 2010 and 2007.  It's working now, but I don't have 2010 installed.  I'll do that later, when this project is finished.  I didn't know that you can develop in 2010 for 2007 clients.  I'll explore that possibility, too, when this project is finished. (FWIW: It can't be a browser form; there is filtering involved...)

    Thanks for your help, again.

From IP 2010, when you go to select your form type, you have the options of IP 2007 filler or browser. You can also change compatibility from the Form Options, or using Save As - I'm including a screenshot montage.

    Hi

I have a related problem with Win7, Office 2010, Infopath 2010 and the error - 'To use this feature, Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 must be set as the default e-mail program'

I am using code (mailenvelope) to send an email snapshot of the form. This is required because we also need to send an attachment with the email.

The code works fine for me and some of our users, others get the error above. Everyone has Outlook 2010 as their default email program.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

If any of them have any Office 2007 components, check for SP3 for Office 2007.  It was the culprit in my case and a 2010 SP may have a similar effect.  Something to check, anyway.

    Hi

We moved straight from Office 2003 to Office 2010 and never saw Office 2007
