Hi,

I have a data structure something like this. Please see attached pic.

 Vehicle_Fleet is a repeating section and it has 2 groups namely ThirdPartyInfo and OtherCoverageInfo. What I'm trying to do is whenever ddlVehLocProvince and Total TPL Premium is changed from ThirdPartyInfo  group, I also wanted to populate the fields with some calculated value in both groups including OtherCoverageInfo group. But I can't seem to access them via ddlVehLocProvince Change event.

I tried using the ThirdPartyInfo changed event and I'm able to access only the nodes under it. I'm wondering if I could use the ddlVehLocProvince change event and still get the nodes in both groups. This is because I wanted the textboxes to be editable as well. Please help!

Is there any reason you're not using rules to accomplish this?  It looks like everything just involves simple multiplication.

Actually I used rules first, but  I wanted the textboxes to be editable as well. What happens is, since there's calculation in the rule, even though I edit the textbox, it still goes back to the computed value in the rule. So I decided to just do it in code to have more control on it. Also, when I used rules, calculated values set to fields is only correct for the first repeating section. The second, third repeating section and so on are not correct anymore when I'm retrieving data to the form.

Could you explain that last part?  If you use Default Value formulas and then manually change the value, then those will get reset when the form is reopened, but if you use actual rules (e.g. to set another field's value when the field changes), then those should remain in effect.

 I strongly advise using rules if it's something that can be done with rules.  It may take a little trial and error to get them just right, but using code will be 20 times worse in that regard.

Thanks for the advice. I used actual rules instead of default value formula because I also have to set conditions before setting a field's value. But how can this be editable?In my form, I also have a retrieve button that retrieves data from the database. For example when I retrieve a data with 5 instances of the VehicleFleet repeating section, only the 1st instance section displays the correct calculated field values while the rest are not. Somehow the field values from 1st instance of repeating section are add up to the second, and third and so on. Does this make sense?
