I am new to infopath. I have a requirement where I need to check for special characters in the filename during attaching the file using file attach control. Please help.

Hi - you'd need to decode the base 64 - and you can get the file name from that. Here's an article with a code sample.

qRules can do this as well - there is a command that you can use to get the file name, and then you'd be able to use rules to check for the characters you are concerned about - it also does a great deal more, and the free trial is available here.
