Banging Head Against Wall... formula for concatenating multi-selection field...

I've previously posted regarding this, but it appears help has died out on that post... my apologies for reposting, but I'm hitting desperation here.

Numerous post have provided this formula for setting a text field with the concatenated selections from a multi-selection field.  substring(eval(eval(MultiSelectBox[. != ""], 'concat(", ", .)'), ".."), 2

However, EVERY time I try to use the formula IP refuses to use it due to the first bracket on the 'not empty string' section... [. !=""]   What is going on??  It seems to work for others, but I get an error saying it expects a comma rather than bracket.  I've tried entering the formula every way possible... even copying and pasting from other posts and substituting my field to ensure I enter it correctly.

I've put the formula in without the 'not empty string' section and IP accepts it... BUT then the formula doesn't work.  I get only the most recently selected item, not each item seperated by a comma.  I tried substituting choosing field with choosing the field group, but that just gives me everything I choose jammed together without commas.  And, if I de-selected something, it stays in the text box.

I need, need, need to be able to do this so I can sent the text box to SP instead of the multi-select so the field is able to be filtered.  Running short on time and would be incredible appreciative if someone can help solve the puzzle with me.

    Thanks,
    Jen
