    repeating section

    hey everyone :)

I'm new to Infopath 2010, I'm doing a table 5 columns * 6 rows, each cell must contain an input field.
on submit, each cell will become an item in a SharePoint list.
So, all the fields in the form belong to the same list column.

is there any way to do a multi submit using repeating section? can I determinate somehow on the form load the number of sections that I want to show to user to fill (30 sections)?

help plz asap, I want a codeless solution :S

    thx in advance

You would typically need to use some custom code to accomplish this.

We use qRules; you can watch a video demo here. Good luck!

Just wanted to add - under the Data tab on the Ribbon, if you click Default Values, you can add instances of your repeating group so that the form will open with 6 instances.

You may be able to create the correct CAML for this without code if you use this technique for filtering the target field for a rule.

This was very helpfull :D but just another simple question, I don't know if it's possible, can I put these instances next to each other instead of beeing in a vertical alignement? it's just for the appreance and the look of the form, it's more like a regular table to fill data in (2 dimensions)

    thank you again :)

If this is not a browser form, you can repeat horizontally - you may want to experiment with that....

What you can do here is drag and drop repeating section on your form. Now add a field inside your farm which reads as 'SectionCount' its default value in the property would be "count(../preceding-sibling::*) + 1". Now add another field in your form and name it as 'count'. Now From the tools tab click on 'Default Values' and keep adding repeating by selecting "Add group below this group" and add maximum number of sections which can be entered by the user. Now you have to set conditional formatting on the repeating section. The first condition would be if count is blank, hide repeating section and second condition would be if count is less than SectionCount hide this control. On preview you can see whatever value user will enter in the Count field, you will have sections similar to the number entered by the user.

thanks for the help, but in my case I have a specific number of sections that I want to repeat, and thanks to Hilary I already did what you just said, but I have one more question, how can I get to each instance separately? is there any ID or XPath or something like that so I can seek one instance of the repeating group (to put a value in it for example) ?
