Can you have your SharePoint admin check the error logs for you? S/he'll want the correlation Id from the error.

I am also the admin. I found this. I am not sure why it is 401 unauthorized.

I will say before this error I got this until I exported the cert and imported it into Central Admin:

After that error was gone but now I am unathorized

So, your form is full trust and signed? It shouldn't need to be either - set it to domain trust. With qRules, it will need to be either admin approved or sandboxed, however.

That said, a Google search indicates that disabling the loop-back check may address this - here's a KB.

I have one little issue left. I am able to set the filters statically in this URL by using the filter in the default value by using ID = "1" /some number but I am having trouble using ID = field 1

That's because you will either need to use custom code or qRules to pass in the filter value and change the URL - a Google search should find you code samples if you choose to write your own. Again, if you are using SharePoint 2010, you can use OData and REST instead, no code needed there.

I'm so sorry, but I have no idea what you are talking about. What is the sample you found? What do the dots above stand for?

You need to create a REST connection to the SharePoint OData service. Then you can change the REST URL in your form to pass in form values, and requery the data source.

To learn more about OData, start here. Here's a video I did that may help you - I've got no idea as to what resources you are referring to above.

Just so you know, you can use a REST data connection with owssvr.  It's simply that in order to include field1's value, you need to use a formula to concatenate it in.  You can use something like this in the formula editor when you do the Change REST URL action:

I just wanted to add - I'd not realized this, but Jimmy pointed out in email that:

...a REST connection in InfoPath was just any service that returns XML based on the URL it's passed

So, if you are needing just basic equivalency, owssvr.dll is probably a great way to go! OData is great for more complex queries - if you check out the URL protocol, you'll find you can get pretty sophisticated. Owssvr.dll is nice because you can also query specific views (I'm already thinking - gee, use REST with owssvr.dll and you could query a different view of your list based on other form info....).

At any rate, sounds like with IP 2010 and REST, no need for code to change your owssvr.dll URL, which is great.

Thats what I read too but not sure how to use an ID field from the SHarePoint current list item and = to @ows ID. It retireves nothing but if I do @ows_ID = '81' or some number it works.

in other words I have  a  1st data connection which recieves all IDs from the current active form and than I have the 2nd owssvr connection. trying to add a filter like this

I am not using a filter field on the form but a filter field in the sharepoint list for that active infopaht form.

You would use a concat formula to set the URL, and it would look something like this:

Does that make sense? From your first URL, it seems you may have been changing the FilterField1 - that doesn't change....

I tried that but all it did was put the URL itself as the text box Value and not the query value. I will try this again this weekend.

Wow - I'm totally confused as to what you are trying to do. Please feel free to attach your form when you try again (under the Options tab) and we'll see if we can give you hand. Basically, you want rules that:

1. Change the REST URL
2. Execute the query for the REST data connection that you changed the URL for in step 1
3. Do whatever it is you need to do with the data - display it on your form, populate a field's value, etc.

OK I am going to try and keep it simple. 

I have an Infopath library that is a workflow when an item is created. In this workflow I have task ID's that are created in this library. lets just say Task ID. This is stored in this infopath library/list. This ID is the exact ID in the workflow task list. This is sort of like a foriegn key to a primary key relationship.  The data in this task list is what I am trying to recieve and display on the form so that the user does not need to click in the workflow link t osee when the task was approved or any comments.

I can get REST or Owssvr filter to work with filter values that I have in a drop down on the form. However, when try to use the task ID from the infopath list for the active form I get a blank.

I have 2 data recieve connections. 1 connection retrieves all ID's for the active form on form load. The 2nd data connection is a REST or Owssvr:(Neither one works) I think it is because it does not know what the filter value is yet because it is server side and I have to pass this in the URL first before I queiry the connection.

I am using the above with a filter applied on the field which works with the drop down list but not the ID field from the other data connection (ID's for all active forms)
