    SubmitToSharePointList: "Access Denied" (I broke it AGAIN!!)

    A case of "curiouser and curiouser"...I had a form that used the SubmitToSharePointList rule which had an error that you (Ernesto and Hillary) helped to resolve in this thread;

    http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/22067.aspx

    That issue was resolved by re-injecting the form with the "latest and greatest" of the qRules. Since the end of that episode I've made several changes which have precipitated a NEW error; "Errors occurred submitting to list: Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource." The changes I've made to the orginal form are (in order of change);

    1. Several "layout" changes to make the form easier to navigate.
    2. Two new fields on the form that are used to control visibility of sections in the form based on input to other fields.
    3. Inclusion of a new data connection to retrieve info from another list (display of multiple customer addresses that change with the entry of a customer ID).
    4. Insertion of a new view to select from one of those addresses in #3 above, and a new button to "record" that selection into another new field in the form.
    5. Some "tweaks" to rules to make all of the above work (more or less, I'm still debugging this).

    I got through all of this (which I thought was non-impactful to the submit function - silly me), and went to test my shiny new form - from "Preview" mode in InfoPath 2010 - where I found the error mentioned above ("...access denied...") blazing from a "qRules error" box that I (thankfully) kept around for debugging purposes. Here are the steps I've taken so far - to no avail;

    1. I thought I had somehow "broken" the mapping XML, so I manually edited that...with disasterous effects (I'm no XML-dude, by any stretch of the imagination).
    2. I downloaded qRules (which we had recently purchased - I was previously using the Trial), thinking that our Trial had expired, and re-generated the mapping file AND re-injected the form...nada.
    3. I checked and double-checked my permissions to the list I was trying to submit to (yep, I'm still a site collection admin, yep, I still have "full Control" access to the list).

    And that is the extent of my troubleshooting. So now what? I'm sure that the answer will be embarassingly simple, but I am stumped for now.

    I wonder whether a new, simple SharePoint list mapping would work. Would you be willing to step thru a very simple form mapping to a very simple list, and verify whether that works correctly? This would at least tell us whether it is an issue with the environment or the form.

    A. If your simple (new) form and new mapping work, then it's an issue within the current form itself.

    B. If your simple new form and mapping fail, then we can guess it's an issue in the environment.

    Would you mind doing this as a troubleshooting step? Create a blank new form, inject it with qRules, create a ShP list, and then create a mapping between the form and the list. Publish the form and test it out. Let us know what you find. Thanks!

    OK...I did as you asked Ernesto;

    I created a simple form with a single field. I mapped that field (using the new qRules) to the SAME list that my complicated form was mapped to...with the same results. Then I created a new custom list with a single-line text field in the same subsite, generated a new mapping file (with the same name as the old) between the form and the list and re-created the data connection to the new mapping file (just in case). I got the same error.

     As far as I know, nothing has changed in the site, or subsite that would cause me NOT to have permissions to the list. So...what am I missing? Where should I look to next?

    PS - just for grins, I went to both lists and manually entered and modified items - which I could do with ease.

    I did a bit of poking around in the log files on the SP server and found the following entries (seemingly related to the issue I'm having);

    Did anything else change on your SharePoint server? Updates?

    With your test form that you created, were you using the same list? Or a different list?

    AFAIK nothing has changed on the SP server (I'll be talking with the admin this morning about just that). The test form was first "looking" at the same list and, when that failed, I connected it to a different, very simple one-record, one-field list with the same result.

    Hi Roger,

    I'm sorry that we haven't been able to solve this via the forum. If you'd like to continue investigating this, please send us email to support at qdabra dot com and we can discuss next steps and support options.

    Thank you.
