    Repeating Table 2007->2010

    Hi All

I have an IP2007 Form that sends its contents to a SharePoint 2010 Library.

The form contains, amongst other things, a 4 column Repeating Table - the form works great so I have no query regarding that.

Columns in the Repeating Table allow for multiline input, which results in a scroll bar at the end of the cell, when the text exceeds the cell size.

This is not a major inconvenience unless we want to print the Form out when the printed cell shows the truncated view - even then there are samples and answers within this and other lists how to achieve the desired expanded cell results.

The current Library is small, but each Form may have one or several rows in the Repeating Table.

A similar Form in IP2010- actually a re-design of the old 2007 Form with the same contents and supposedly same layout - the cell Repeating Table expands to accommodate the text, without scroll bars.

Any suggestions on how to copy the current Library contents of the 2007 Forms into the new 2010 Form, which can be resubmitted to a new Library which will eventually replace the old Library?

Could be to use the 2007 as a source to auto-populate the 2010 table - is that easy or hard?

Maybe some XML code solution to extract the table contents and paste it into the new Form - I'm open to advice on that and recognise the Source Group and Destination Group

I would have thought it was a common enough problem for IP2010 to have a toolset, which I haven't found yet.

The Form is related to staff performance so I am reluctant to upload a specific example but could upload a dummy Library element from each Form

any advice, recommendations would be appreciated

    Hi Leslie,

Migrating data is not always easy, especially when you're dealing with a large number of forms. In your case, I would recommend querying data from the old SharePoint library and inserting that data into the new IP2010 form, and then the new form will submit to the new library. Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible without code.

In cases like this, we use a tool called "qRules" which has a number of commands designed that will allow you to copy data from your SharePoint library or list and write it back. You call the commands using rules in InfoPath which makes it easier to use than code. There is a free trial of qRules that you can download in our site.

    Hope that helps,

    Jo-Anne

    thanks Jo-Anne

I will take a look at qRules and see if it makes life easier.

My dataset is actually quite small at present - less than 50 items, but "cut & paste"would be so labor intensive - an not really techie enough.

I'll let you know if I find some "revolutionary"way to resolve the challenge - other than qRules of course :-)

don't know if this will help anyone - or whether it is too obvious?

I eventually found my original .xsn file for the Form, made a few changes to add extra functionality, changed the relevant textbox sizes to auto and 100%, republished the new Form, re-linked all of the existing forms, kept my fingers crossed and hey-ho...

All items open with auto-sizing boxes, no more scroll bars.

Moral - keep your files safe and easy to identify, don;t change too many things all in one go
