Office 365 Excel Services REST connection not working in Browser

    Description:

We have an InfoPath 2010 Browser enabled Form with a REST data connection to an Excel Services Workbook (located in the same site collection). The data connection has been added and approved in a dataconnction library as a udcx file  in the same site collection. The Data connection works as expected when InfoPath is opened in the Client ( Preview mode). But, if try open the InfoPath form in the Browser the connection fails with the error message below. The REST URL works as expected when run directly from the Browswe IE9 in both ATOM and HTML formats.

"an error occurred quering a data source. "XML data that is required for this form to function correctly cannot be found.  The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden "
An entry has been added to the windows event log of the server. LOG ID: 5566"

Just want to know if anyone else has been able to excute an Excel Services REST query in an InfoPath Browser form on Office 365.

Any ideas of resulution would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bruce

Can you send a copy of the form and workbook you are using?  We have created an IP form with rest connections to Excel on O365.   Is the data content very large?

    Hi Jim,

Have you had a chance to look at the files I sent to you?

    Hi Bruce,
    Thanks for your reply!
My previous test did work. To double confirm, I tested again. My form with a REST Connection doesn’t work. Forms without REST connections work. I’ve tested many times this time and all the tests with a REST Connections failed. The error message
" This form cannot be opened in a Web browser. To open this form, use Microsoft InfoPath".   The error message is not the same as yours

To move forward, we need to check the logs at the server side to find what’s going on. So as I suggested before, please contact the Office 365 support team to ask for their help to have a check the logs. The contact info can be http://onlinehelp.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-enterprises/ff637572.aspx. Thanks for your understanding!
If you need any help in bridging, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,

Re: Office 365 Excel Services REST connection not working in Browser

Below is a response from the Office  365 Support Engineer Microsoft SharePoint Online as of April 24 2012

"As of now the REST data connection is not functional with Office365.

It was funtional before Service update 1 but there have some ongoing issues.

So for now the REST data connection has been removed.

There is no timeline of when this will be implemented and considered to be in working condition."

Thank you so much for posting this information. This is very good to know.

Do you know if this is just for Excel REST? Or for all SharePoint REST services in O365?
