Drop-down list only shows the 1st 12 items in a SharePoint list

    Hi,

I have 2 drop-down fields, each populated by a SharePoint list. The first has 25 items in it, the second has 128.  In the first, the user selects from the drop-down choices.  The second should populate based on what's in the first.

    Working example:
User chooses "GFPE" in the first box.  There are 19 items in the SharePoint list that are associated with "GFPE".  All 19 choices show up in the 2nd drop-down.

     Broken example:
User chooses "REG" in the first box.  There are 21 items in the SharePoint list that are associated with "REG".  Only the first 12 choices show up in the 2nd drop-down.

I can't find any difference between the first 12 that show up and the last bunch.  I added a test item to the list called "test" and it did not show up in the drop-down until I renamed it "btest" so it would be included in the first dozen.

I have since removed this filter, but originally the 2nd drop-down included both the items associated with the contents of the first box AND all items associated with the designation "Any".  Those all show up in the second box when "REG" is chosen, plus the first 12 of the list that are associated with "REG".  So, somehow, InfoPath is only "seeing" up to 12 items when "REG" is chosen.

The phrase "tears of frustration" is a close reality here.  I don't know what else to check and I hope you can help me.  I have less than a week to fix this.

     Thanks for reading.

I believe Sharepoint limits results to whatever the default view shows. So if the default view is limited to 100 items, not all are going to show in your query. I think there is a view or a list setting to increase this, but I'm not certain of its exact name/location. Can you check your list and view to see if there's a limit (perhaps of 100) somewhere?

Update.  I was stuck on that REG option failing and didn't investigate the other ones that came later in the alphabet, which had zero options in each of them.  Turns out that the default 100 item limit ended right at the 12th option for REG.  So I increased the item limit to 200 and now all of the 2nd drop-downs populate appropriately, with no missing items.

    Cheers,
    Nancy

Thanks, Ernesto.  I was writing my update while you were posting.  You are right; the view's item limit is at the bottom of the view's settings page.
