I have an attachment control on the InfoPath form. I complete the form, attach a Word doc, go to File, Save & Send, Send Form and email the form using Outlook. When the recipient opens the email, the form is contained in the body of the email. The recipient signs the form and emails the form back to me. I open the email with the form contained in the body of the email, sign it, and try to forward to another recipient. When I try to forward it I get the error. If I try to reply I get "operation failed."
From what I've learned so far (I think) the attachment control is for use when submitting the form to a SharePoint Library - so that's why it won't work when trying to route via email.
Here's another thing...I try doing the same thing but without the attachment control...fill out form, File, Save & Send, Send Form - the email opens with the form in the body of the email, press the "paperclip" attachment button, attach a document and send the email. When the recipient opens the email they cannot see the attachment! It's like it's not there. UNTIL they press "forward" like they're going to forward the form/email on - then the attachment shows in the attachment tool bar under the subject! I just don't get it! Here's the kicker - I contacted our IS department (I am the only one in the entire company that knows anything about InfoPath - no one else hasn't even really heard of it) and find out that when I email the form to her, she can see the attachment! Which tells me it must be some sort of filter or admin rights setting - that she can see it and a couple of us testing the form cannot.
Very frustrating - I just want to be able to email a form with attachments without having to use SharePoint in the case.
Thank you,
Jeanne
