    SubmitToSharepointList and a Security Exception

    I'm a Sharepoint user-turned-developer, and this is my first attempt at using qRules so forgive any "newbie faux-pas".

     My environment is Sharepoint 2010, and InfoPath 2010. I'm trying to emulate Hilary's excellent instructional video describing the use of the SubmitToSharepointList rule to allow the display and modification of information from two Sharepoint lists using SubmitToSharepointList. After several intellectual mis-steps (solely on my part - like I said, I'm a newbie at this) I finally got the form working in "Preview" mode - it works similarly to Hilary's exemplar in the video, and I can update and modify fields in both of my Sharepoint lists withut issue (hooray!).

    The next step was to publish the form to a Form Template Library on my SP server (another intellectual challenge). I was successful in doing so this morning but when I went to "Edit in a browser" from the Form Library I got the following error (yes, I was "clever" enough to display the results of the error return from the Submit... rule);

     Action: SubmitToSharePointList. Arguments: submit: ItemSubmit  mapping: ItemMap  id: /my:myFields/my:ItemInfo/my:ItemID  . Details: Security Exception - please check security requirements for this command.

    This is when I attempt to edit or add a record in the "Item" list. I get a similar error when I attempt to edit or add a record in the "Customer" list;

     Action: SubmitToSharePointList. Arguments: submit: CustSubmit  mapping: CustMap  id: /my:myFields/my:CustInfo/my:CustID  . Details: Security Exception - please check security requirements for this command.

    I though this had something to do with my list permissions, but I am logged in as a Site Collection Administrator with "Full Control" permissions on the site, and on both lists. The form has been published with Domain access (and not as a fully trusted form) - when I tried to change that without having a certificate, it failed to load in the browser at all (which I expected).

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi there - so do you get this error when you open in InfoPath? Or in the browser?

    Only in the browser (IE8), when I run the form in InfoPath it works like a charm.

    There was another post recently where a user was getting an unexpected security exception. He had to add his SharePoint site to his Local Intranet sites. Is yours in your local intranet?

    Yes, the site is already in my Local Intranet zone. This is truely mystifying!

    Is your site http or https? I know with REST data connections, we saw some issues in IE8 with https - I have no way of knowing if the same type of thing could be occurring here, of course.... Any additional info in the SharePoint logs?

    The site is http: (not "s"). I'm using a (10-day old) Evaluation version of the qRules - I don't know if that is relevant to this discussion.

     I've also been going through Trace Logs in the SP server, but I'm not 100% sure of the relevance of what I'm seeing (I had included some log file entries, but I have since removed them).

     Any further words of wisdom.

    Hi - this is qRules 4.1?

    What version of InfoPath? What version of SharePoint?

    We just saw this internally in a 4.1 form with IP 2007 / ShP 2007 - and there is a work around, but I'm wondering if you are using 4.1

    Can you try setting the attribute (useWebServices) in the screenshot to true prior to running your command?

    I'm sorry Hilary, when I went to check the attribute, my view didn't look like yours. I had checked the qRules version number by looking at the version number at the bottom of the qRules injector (which said 4.1.4437.27150) - so i assumed that I was running verstion 4.1. After seeing that my listing was different than yours, I checked the documents (which I should have don in the first place - duh) and saw that I had version 4.0.

    Is there any hope for me?

    Since the (semi-)paniced reply above, I've since downloaded and re-installed version 4.1 of qRules and re-injected my form. Now I see the useWebServices node, but I'm stuck on how to change the value from false (the default) to true.

    Off to Google to figure this out...

    Hi-

    You can add a rule on the finishedLoading node in the QdabraRules secondary data souce.

    Condition: when finishedLoading = True

    Action: set useWebServices = True

    Let us know if you need additional info.

    Hi-

    Did the advice above help out?

    Also, we wanted to confirm, did you by chance get a beta copy of qRules v4.1? Or did you download qRules v4.0 from the website?

    Thanks.

    Re: SubmitToSharepointList and a Security Exception

    I did download the 4.1 Trial and installed it [Embarassed by my "rookie mistake" above]. As a quick fix, I put that into a checkbox on the form - Ernesto, I'll do what you suggest in a later iteration. With qRules 4.1 in-place, the submit worked, and I think I'm on my way!

     Thanks everyone for your expertise, and patience.
