    Multiple-selection list box

I need a solution where the user is able to select their choices from the multiple selection list box witch then populates the SharePoint list with the users choices.

     thanks

You can use a customized SharePoint list to do this.  Just create a custom list with a choice column that allows multiple choices (I believe this is just checkbox).  Customize the list in InfoPath and then publish it back to SharePoint.  This will setup your InfoPath form with a multiple selection list box control that will submit to the SharePoint list.  Let me know if you need more details in how to set this up and I can help walk you through it.

    Re: Multiple-selection list box

I'm not sure what you're trying to ask in your question.  The choices will be saved to the list under a single column. What do you mean by all categories and what database are you referring to?

    Using SharePoint 2010:

    1. Create a custom list
    2. Add a new column of type Choice
    3. In the Settings, select Display Choices using "Checkboxes (allow multiple selections)"
    4. Finish creating the column
    5. In the ribbon for the list, click Customize Form.
    6. InfoPath should launch and will autogenerate a form for you based on the list schema.
    7. Quick publish the form back to SharePoint (File -> Quick Publish)
    8. Back in the list, add a new item and you should see your InfoPath form.  When you save, the data will be saved back to your list.  You can now customize your InfoPath form further to improve the look and feel or add any logic that you may want.

    Hope this helps.
