Hi All, I am brand new to this site. Please redirect my question to the right place. I am looking at how to create a browser enabled info path form using infopath 2010 , which users open and enter data using a browser and on clicking a submit button on form, I would like a email to be sentout to a group email id with the entire form ( with formatting intact ) as the body of the email message. I would like to have control over the "To " email address and also subject .please advise how you approached this project. My form will have text boxes, radio buttons and drop down list. I appreciate your help on this. I have recently started to use infopath 2010 and sharepoint enterrpise 2010 . Sri

Hi, and welcome to the forum! If you are using InfoPath in conjunction with SharePoint you can setup email alerts on the SharePoint list. Brows to the list>Library Tools>Alert me. You are also able to add a distribution list to the Alerts.

Hi, Thanks for the quick response. I am using infopath in conjunction with sharepoint. But My current infopath form does not submit to a list. The reason being I wasnt sure if my form should submit to alist or a form library. I am aware of the list>Library Tools>Alert me since I have used it as part of the 'Contact Us' link we have on our website where users leave a comment and the data gets written to a list and I have setup a alerrt email. Now with this new infopath form, I have requirement for the form to replace a nicely formatted HTML form we currently have that I am trying to replace with infopath. This form needs to be browser enabled and clients need not have infopath installed on their machine and on submit, the form with data needs to be as part of the email body with the formatting looking like HTML table. Once a email is sent out, I dont need a workflow for 'approval' or any other process. The email goes to a team group email ID and then team members respond to this email from their outlook and comment on this form data as they see it. Please advise how I should approach this. Sri

No worries. the first thing to do is Publish the form to your SharePoint space. In InforPath go to: File>Publish>SharePoint server, and follow the wizard. The location of your SharePoint InfoPath Form Service is just the URL of your SharePoint site. Once the form is published to SP you can also add a data connection in InfoPath to this form library so you can use the submit option.

Hi, I had a quick question. In this approach when the user submits the completed form as a email, does it require that the user is on a PC that has outlook 2003 installed. I haven't used email forms a lot, but in my experience they can tend to be a little clunky. I would use a browser enabled form and send the link via email. you can open the form via SharePoint (in the browser) and copy the form URL, then use a hyper link in your email. that way when users click on the link it will direct them to the form. hope this helps.

Hi, You are right about email formatting being clunky. But my users want to see the entire form in the body of the email .

My infopath 2010 form looks fine in browser . but when I enter in some values and click submit which triggers a email, I have used the option 'send active part of form' and in my email body, I see the form but the formatting is bad.

I see text fields which are huge and also in my form I have multiple tables and in the email these tables are not aligned.

 

My users are persisting that I make this work.

 

Will it help that in my form, I have just one table ( with 2 columns ) . Also is there any other tips to design this form so that email formatting isnt messed up a whole lot.

The infopath 2010 form looks great on browser . but on the email message body the formatting is lost and I see uneven rows and columns.
