i checked few senarios and my findings,

    1. this issue not happening at change REST URL action. it happens at Query REST Data Connection action.

    2. when form loads, data is pulled from REST URL from data connection and able to show in multi select list box by binding.

    3. when user first time changes drop down, page refreshes and new selected value is not beeing in dropdown. when user again changes dropdwon, then this error message occures.

    ----

if there is no solution or fix for this, i would like to know how to use "Query data on SP List" method that you suggested above for fulfilling my requirement.

thank you very very much for your help.

    Hello Raj,

I think we are in the same boat. http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/22229/77265.aspx#77265

When you said you granted your users contribute rights to the site collection, exactly how did you do that? I can make users admins of the site collection but not sure how to give them just contrib rights to the collection.

Did you ever find a solution?  Same thing with me.  I (as a site collection admin) work fine using the form and odata queries, but as soon as I allow a standard user to use the form, they get the error.  The weird part is that they are able to click on 3 seperate form buttons that call odata queries, but the 4th click renders the error.  Same error as yours, and the correlation data from the sharepoint log file is the same.

Re: Page post back issue with Multiple-selection list box

     Hi bob,

for granting contribute rights for the site collection, you have to go to that site collections site first and then click on site actions--> site permissions. There you will find NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users (NT AUTHORITY\authenticated users) with read only permission if you have added already it. if it is not there add it by using ribbon and give contribute permission from the permissions list that you will find. if group is already there, click the check box in front of it and click on edit permission on ribbon and give contribute permission.

however, i used one more solution to avoid giving extra permission other than read only. it is by using code. i can help you if you want to know how to do that using code.

Re: Page post back issue with Multiple-selection list box

    Hi,

We had the same problem with InfoPath.
After analysis of servers,it turns out thatthe anonymous user authentication has been enabled onthe web application server via IIS and not via SharePoint(unsupported configuration), causingside-effects on some queries whichcalls to forms.

We disabled anonymous access. This desactivation causes the functioning of forms again.

    Rachid.
