    Change view on submit

I have a form that contains a bunch of instructional text.  I want this visible to the user but I don't need it when the form is submitted.  So I created another view and have a rule that changes to that view upon submit.  My data connection is set up to simply send an email, and the settings specify to send the form data as an attachment and attach the form template.

Without the rule to change views, when I submit using the default view I get the email and it contains the form data in the message body, which is what I want to happen.  However, when I apply the rule and submit the new view without all the noise, I get the email but the message body contains no data..  The form is attached, but it is the default view.  If I change the email data connection settings to send only the active view and no attachment, I get an email that contains nothing but a subject line.

    I'm using InfoPath 2010.

It's probably something simple, but I can't figure out how to fix this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps an easy solution would be to have a button in your instructional view to switch to the display view and have the user submit using this view instead.  You can repurpose this as the "confirm this information before you submit" view and that should solve your problem.

Also, so you know, this is a known IP "feature" - if you switch views and send email, the view won't have rendered and you get a blank email. You aren't doing anything wrong. Here's another post on this subject, about halfway down I have a simple sample form. We generally just have everything in sections in a single view and then set the sections to show / hide so only what we want to email is sent.
