When you set default value to constants, same field of each instance could be set different values respectively. BUT when you use a formula(I needed to copy over a value from another field) as the default value of a field, it spreads into ALL the other instances/rows of the repeating table!

Any way we could get around this? As you could see in the attached picture, whenever I update the default values formula for the first instance, it changes the formula of the second instance, same goes the other way around.

That's a really interesting issue!

I couldn't find a good workaround for you out of the box.  One thing you could try is to use the qRules command SetValue.  You can create a Form Load rule that will set the value of ../my:ExpenseDetails[1]/my:Budget2 to field1 and then ../my:ExpenseDetails[2]/my:Budget2 to field2.
