Unhide/hide section from selection in Multi-select list box

I am currently trying to hide and unhide sections by using the selected check boxes within a another multi-select list box (mslb) within InfoPath 2010. My scenario is: Select items within a multi-select list box called career-clusters and depending on which items they select would then unhide the other sections called programs (there are separate sections per career-cluster option). However, I am unable to figure out how to find out which item is selected within the mslb in order to use it within a rule to unhide/hide the sections. Can someone help please!

To test whether a value is selected in the mslb (e.g. to hide controls when a certain value is selected):

        mslbField is equal to "value"

To test whether a value is not selected in the mslb (e.g. to hide controls when a certain value is not selected):

All occurrances of mslbField are not equal to "value"

Jimmy, Thank you for responding, I tried this and it was able to hide the controls, however when I made the rule of: mslbField does not contain "xx" then it hid the control but when the said field was selected it didn't unhide the control. Do you know if there is another way?

As I said, you need to use [All occurrances of mslbField are not equal to "value"], not [does not contain].  The All occurrances of option is available in the dialog where you select the field.

    Hi Jimmy

Can you please show me where can i find this multi select all occurences option? I am struggling with the exact same thing. I have a multi select field called Lifestyle Management. If any of the option is checked in this multi select field, I would like to unhide a section. How can I accomplish this? Your help is very much appreciated. I have looked everywhere on the Internet and books but couldnt find the answer to this.

    Thanks

    sashaa99:

The "All Occurences" option can be found here:

    1. Click on the "Section" you want to hide/unhide, add a "Rule"

    2.  under "Conditions" --> "Select a field or group" -->Select the multi selection box you want (in my case, it's called "AVMultiChoices", the "All occurences of [Multi Choice Field name}" is under "Select" drop down menu as shown below.

    Hope this helps,

    Hong
