Deleting document types and documents that are not required

I currently have a number of document types listed within the DBXL Admin tool with associated documents that I no longer require and thanks to an issue when transferring the documents after an upgrade the link between them appears to have been lost.  I can see the relevant documents in the back end SQL tables, but I am unable to use any of the tools to delete either the documents or the document types.  I am therefore considering the only option is to manually remove these from the back end tables, with all the inherent risks which modifying the data outside of the application will bring.

Are there any documents available which show exactly which tables need to be updated, as I've studied the database structure and I think I have identified all of the tables where the DocID for either the document type of the individual documents are used.  However, recognising what could go wrong I'd appreciate any documentation which may assist in this process.

Hi Ged, we don't have a document available, but if you send an email to "support at qdabra dot com", we can arrange a call to help.

If the entries in the Document table are orphaned, you can actually create a new doctype and then parent these documents to the new entry created in the QdDocumentType table.  You can then manage the documents normally from there.

Thanks Jim, will do.  The document type is still there, the documents are still associated with the correct DocID for the document type, but cannot open the document type within the Admin Tool, cannot delete the document type using the Document Migration UI and although it says it's deleting the documents they are still in the database.

Entirely our fault when migrating between versions and would just be nice to clear out the duplicated document types and XML data.
