    autopopulating user name()

    Hello all,

    i need a quick help on this, i have a repeating table in a form with some fields in it, i want to display the username of a person who fills this repeating table (first field in repeating table). this form is filled by different people but the repeating table is filled by only one person.

    i created a field in the footer of the repeating table and set the value to username(), but how can i set the rule to display the username of the person who fills the repeating table. (infopath 2007, client-based form)

    Re: autopopulating user name()

    You could simply set the default value to userName(). Make sure that you uncheck refresh this value in the properties dialog, otherwise the value will change for each person that opens the form. This should work if you are creating new items in the repeating table to default the user field to the current user.  If you are modifying existing line items in the repeating table, your rule will be much more complicated.

    anson, is there any way to display the actual name of the person who fills the form instead of just username, i want to use the username field to set the value of a field to display the firstname, lastname of the same person.

    You'll need to either use the person/group picker control to resolve the user name or you will need the user profile service to retrieve the first and last name.
