InfoPath Dev

Hi all, I am new to infopath just started acouple of days ago creating a form on Infopath Designer 2010.  I been able to created but having trouble setting up functions like dates or drop down menu for states. Is there a different source that you need your form to connect to in order to get the data.  For example "state" in City, State, zip..  Can someone recommend step by step tutorial on InfoPath, or materials that they found very elpful for a beginner.   Just found out that my company do not have a sharepoint server so that option to publish it out will not be available.

Thank you for your reply.  I started using it this morning but ran into a little trouble with this step:

CREATE A USERLIST

1. Navigate to your SharePoint site.

2. Click Site Actions > More Options…

We do not have a share point server where I work.  I see sharepoint on my system when going into Start-Program-Sharepoint- Ms Sharepoint Workspace 2010.  Is that what they mean by that?  If so, I can not find this option:

What version of Sharepoint Server 2010 you need to install on your PC in order to use this lab correctly?  I recently installed the Enterpise version of Sharepoint Server 2010 and not working correctly. 

Just been inform by my manager that we will no longer use Infopath2010 with sharepoint.  Thats going to be hard since every google I do on infopath involves sharepoint.  Anyone have links to tutorials or step by step instructions?
