InfoPath inserts extra newlines in default text

    Hello,

I'm finding weird behavior in InfoPath 2007 when trying to enter multi-line default text in a Text Box (not rich text) with Multi-line + Paragraph breaks. In the formula editor, I enter the text as follows:

    "Line 1
    Line 2
    Line 3"

(using Ctrl-Enter to put in the newlines). But once I close the dialog, or even just press Verify Formula, InfoPath adds an additional newline after each of mine. So when the form is previewed, it defaults to:

    Line 1

    Line 2

    Line 3

Clicking verify, or even using the dialog again, doubles the number of newlines in it. This is ridiculous! Is there a workaround for this? One that doesn't involve the XML file trick or any code, would be great. Am I overlooking something here?

    Thanks,
    -NC

Why do you not want to use the XML file trick?  Are you working with a browser form?

Re: InfoPath inserts extra newlines in default text

    Hi Jimmy,

Currently the form isn't required to work on the web, but in the future it may need to be available to workstations without InfoPath. My other concern is maintainability -- once this project is done, a non-technical person will need to update the default info in the form from time to time, and I don't anticipate them being able to figure out why the workaround was put in =)

But it sounds like the XML file trick might be the only fix for this, so I guess I'll have to decide which is the more unpleasant situation...
