Changing checkboxes to Option boxes need to keep same rules

Currently in the form I am creating I added 3 checkboxes and depending on which checkbox was checked a value was entered in a text box. See example below.  If N/A or OK was selected then in the Your Rating text box a 4 is entered.  If Error was selected then a 2  is entered in Your Rating box.  This is working great but it allows someone to be able to select more than one checkbox which I don't want to do.  I was thinking maybe option buttons would be better? Or is there a rule I can add that wont allow the user to select more than one checkbox?

One more question... if I do go the route of option buttons how can I assign a value to each option button like I have with checkboxes?

    thank you in advance!  Vicki

    N/A
    OK
    Error
    Your Rating

sorry but when I copy and paste to this post its not showing the check boxes in the fields under N/A, Ok and Error.

    Hi Vicki,

Option buttons sounds like the way to go for you.  You can go into the properties of each option button to specify what value selecting each of them will write to the corresponding field.  Then you can create a rule on the field that the option buttons are bound to that says something like if optionField = Error then set a field's value Your Rating = 2.  Hope that gets you started down the right path.  Let me know if you need any more help!

    Thank you Anson

I need a little more help.

This is what I have done since reading your reply.

I selected (using Ctrl) each checkbox and  (under N/A, OK & Error) and right clicked using "Changed To" and selected Option buttons.  Now they all three radio buttons read Field 452.  When I go to Option Button Properties for example "N/A" I put the value 4 in the "Value when Selected" field. Now when I go to the other two radio buttons they also say Field 452 with the value 4 in the "Value when selected" field.

What am I doing wrong? (Update to my note here - I when to each Option button properties and selected Change Binding and selected the text box field I want the value to go to.  I looked at it through Preview and since N/A and OK radio buttons have the same value (4) it's selected both radio buttons when I choose one (example, when I select the OK radio button the N/A radio is automatically select as well.  My Error radio button seems to be good because the value is 2.

Also can you tell me in more detail what you mean by - Then you can create a rule on the field that the option buttons are bound to that says something like if optionField = Error then set a field's value Your Rating = 2

thank you soooo much!!! You are a GREAT help!

    Vicki
