"Could not verify the form template on the specified server"

I was happily developing InfoPath 2010 Web-enabled forms, uploading them to my SharePoint 2010 Enterprise site (with all the right services enabled) when I rather suddenly encountered this problem in Design Checker - "Could not verify the form template on the specified server". Clicking on that gives me a "Could not verify the form ..." and "Make sure you are connected to the Internet ...". I use administrator-approved templates, and that doesn't let me upload the form giving me an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Blah! I have tried a zillion different options from sources around the Net, but no success. Any words of wisdom for a really nice guy? :) (InfoPath REALLY needs a 'strip all the crap out' button)

Does your form have code? Can you check the SharePoint logs, see if you have additional info on the upload attempt?

I'm assuming the issue is occuring on a single form - but perhaps that's a bad assumption? Can you admin approve any template?

Thanks for the unbelievably quick response Hilary! (side note: I have an Aunt Hilary - used to call her Ant Hill) Yes - I have code with my form, but I commented all the code out and still the same problem. I can check the SP logs, but it doesn't log anything during Designer Checker, does it? I have a bunch of forms it is now not working with. If I create a brand new form, no issues. Uploaded & approved. What credentials does it use to go off and verify the code will work on the site? How do I change those credentials?

It isn't that anything is logged during Design Checker, but I was thinking when you try to admin approve the form - isn't that when you get the "Object reference....etc" error?

Are you saying that Design Checker isn't working with a bunch of forms? Or admin approving isn't working? I'm confused again.

I'd guess the form is using your machine account - is your machine on a domain? Or what ever credentials you signed into the ShP site with that may be cached....

Re: "Could not verify the form template on the specified server"

I have a bunch of forms that give me this same error when I run Design Checker. Those same set of forms give me the "Object Reference ... " error when trying to upload them in SharePoint. My workstation is on a domain, the same domain I'm publishing to. This morning I was on a different domain however - I just moved myself to the SharePoint domain to see if I could fix the problem. That didn't work. My hunch is the Design Checker error has to do with my AD credentials that are going out and are not able to 'check' the form on the site? I'll see if I can get a snapshot of the SP errors when trying to upload.

Many, MANY thanks go out to Hilary for solving this one. The problem I had was to do with my use of the 'Filter Data' option within Repeating Tables. Short answer: DON'T USE IT! Filter it through Formatting rules instead. As was explained to me, this 'feature' has some very poor code behind it and causes very difficult-to-interpret error messages from both InfoPath (when using Design Checker) and SharePoint 2010 (when trying to upload the form). Thanks again!

Oh, and also - you had this happen after a SharePoint update - so your filters worked, and then, after a ShP update, stopped working - and like I said - I won't use filters on repeating tables or sections at all any more, having gotten bitten by this myself.

I'm am experiencing this issue but I'm not using repeating tables, just editing an existing form.

I am using repeating tables that I am filtering using formatting rules. Can you explain to me what you are referring to when you say filters? I'm not sure if what I'm doing is causing this error. Thanks!
