Auto populate Row without Modifying other rows

    Hello,

I am trying to create a workflow tracker in InfoPath.  The intent is to track the number of times the request is returned to the originator using a repeating section.  The problem I am having is with the date field, when the users press the return button is set the date field to now() but it replace the data in all the other rows as well.

What are the rules on the Return button?

ErrorResovedDate is blank set a field's value: ErrorResolvedDate =now()

ErrorResovedDate is only blank for the new record but it set all of them as today's date.

Ah - it is repeating. A button outside of the repeating section of the field you wish to change will by default set all of the instances.

You can work around this one of two ways:

    1. qRules has a command you can use to set a specific value in a repeating group - free trial here.
    2. You can manually modify the manifest file to use an XPath filter so as to set only the blank instances - blog post here.

    Thanks for the response,

I tried the solution in the blog and it worked it the variable was filter by a string but not another veriable.

     "../my:CorrectionNotice/my:group6/my:ErrorResolvedDate[../my:NoticeNumber= ../my:TotalNotices]" doesn't work

    "../my:CorrectionNotice/my:group6/my:ErrorResolvedDate[../my:NoticeNumber='1']" does work

My only thought is when using the veriable I have the wrong path.../my:CorrectionNotice/my:group6/my:noticenumber

the TotalNotice is a datafield directly under myfields where as NoticeNumber is under

Does the solution in the blog work for comparing variables to variables?

What is the XPath to the TotalNotices? You can right click it in the data source task pane and use Copy XPath to get the full XPath.
