    Submit email to external users

    Hi,

I am working on an InfoPath form that needs to be sent to an user that is not part of my domain (e.g. i am from companyA - email: [email protected], and the external one is from companyB - email: [email protected]).

I have set up a submit email data connection that works only for the users from my company (e.g. [email protected]), but not for any external email address.

I do not get any error message, just that the email does not get to the inbox. If i forward the email from Outlook it is sent to the address and can be opened.

Can you please help me understand and fix the problem?

     Many thanks,

    Aurelia

What version of InfoPath are you using? I just tried this using an external email address, and didn't have any trouble (IP 2010, SP1)

Does it show in your sent items as going to both? Does the "to" line show both?

Re: Submit email to external users

    This is really strange.

I am using InfoPath 2010. And i have 2 different forms (one test and one i plan to use). I can use submit email functionality from the test form and is sending email also to external address (e.g. gmail). For the real form i have same security settings (full trust) but somehow the email does not arrive at the external addresses. I don't get any error, the email appears in "sent" folder with the gmail & my company address at "to", is received in corporate inbox, but not on the gmail address. If i try to forward it from corporate account to gmail account i still don't receive it (though it appears in sent again).

And this is happening only for the real form, the test one works ok.....the difference is that the real form is more complex, with external receive data connections and was injected with Qdabra rules.

     Your help is much appreciated!!!

How odd. Feel free to attach your form here if you want me to try it in my environment, see if it behaves the same way....

I have added the template; hope you can work with it.

I have created a data connection (EmailSubmit) for testing purposes and is activated by the "test" button.

    Thanks for looking into it.

Re: Submit email to external users

So, I changed the email data connection that is called "1_SubmitToProjectManager" so that it would submit to two of my email addresses - one internal and one external. I added a button that would execute the data connection. I removed the custom code in the form and re-injected qRules so I could use the ClearErrors command and not have to fill out all the required fields. Finally, I previewed the form and submitted it - and the email went to both my accounts.

Any chance your gmail account is not showing it because of the attached template? Do you have another external account you can test with? Feel free to use mine for a test if you need to - I'll send you an email via the forum so you have it.

    Yey!!!! Finally! :)

I have removed the custom code and it worked. Probably i had something there from when i was trying to "play" with things.

I've tested for both gmail and yahoo accounts. I will try tomorrow with the client's domain, but i am quite sure it will work.

    thank you sooooo much

If you are using qRules - be sure to re-inject your form after removing your custom code. Glad you have email working correctly again!

Re: Submit email to external users

It looks the struggle has not ended :)

Everything was ok...until i've reinjected the template. Once is injected with the qdabra rules it does not want to go anymore to external emails.

Does this have to do anything with the licence?

Is there any way to have a template injected and sent to externals?

    thanks

Re: Submit email to external users

My guess is that it has something to do with the security setting of the form. If it has code it cannot be "Restricted". When you are emailing an XSN to a user, it must be set to Restricted. Having code in the form will prevent that (either yoru code or qRules).

Re: Submit email to external users

The template is set as full trust with signature.

I am trying to use a submit data connection to send emails (form & template attached) when a button is pressed - if the templated has no code it works without problems. Once i inject it with Qdabra rules it does not want to send anymore email to external addresses - still, is sending the email to users from my company.

I need to keep these security settings, inject the form to submit some data to a SharePoint list and send it to external users.

I this possible? Or do i have to start looking for a workaround?

    thanks

Re: Submit email to external users

To attach the template as part of the email data connection and have it work correctly, the form cannot have code in it. That's why it isn't working.

What's weird is, if I recall correctly, I re-injected your form with qRules when I was testing it. I wanted to be able to use ClearErrors so I didn't have to worry about validation when I was testing submit.

May I ask why the form needs to be full trust?

Re: Submit email to external users

I have set it up as full trust because there are some "receive data" connections i need for some of the fields and i need to publish it on sharepoint for people to access it from there.

And it did not work for anything else but "full trust with signature".

     thanks
