Emailing attachments with a form that is connected to Access

I'm pretty new at this and have been given the job of developing a workflow solution for my department.    One of the issues is that we can't use sharepoint to save docs since the company is dealing with sensitive information and can't grant universal access to a sharepoint drive.   The form is connected to an Access db and the idea is to publish the form to our intranet, where anyone can download, fill out and send with a work request via email to our dept.  The problem is that normally there are related files with these requests.  Since the form is connected to the db I can' t create a control for attaching a file.  I know this is a problem with infopath and I was wondering if it was possible to embed the Infopath form in the email and pause the process to allow the user to attach any additional files?  I've been search other forums but haven't seen a solution.   ANY HELP IS WELCOME!   Thanks

    Hi DThomson and welcome,

In the data source, you should be able to add a group node under the main root node and from that add a file attachment. I recommend converting this attachment to a link by uploading it to a file share. That way the XML is smaller and you can edit the file attachments without having to open InfoPath. To do this, you can use our common code library (qRules) or investigating writing some code yourself.

    Best of luck,

    Thanks Patrick!

A colleague of mine also found a little VB script :

to insert into a button that would allow the Infopath form to be inserted into the email, thus allowing for an attachment.  I am working in 2003 but someone mentioned that this might not work once i migrate to 2010.   Is this true?
