    default values

    Hi, Experts!

    I am new to Infopath.

I have a lookup table WarehouseID/TankID. I created a WareshouseID drop-down list control and when i choose specific warehouse from it I need TankID values related to chosen warehouse to be populated as default values in the repeating table where i am going to insert data for each specific tank. Let's say i have five tanks for warehouse X, when i choose warehouse X i want all five tanks to be populated as default values in five rows of repeating table which i am going to use for entering data for each tank.

    Thank you very much!!!!

Hi - So, how will the rows get inserted in the repeating table? I ask because InfoPath rules don't have any actions that can add rows to the table...

I hoped that rows are inserted automatically based on the number of default values for each warehouse. Let's say if there are 5 tanks associated with the chosen warehouse then 5 rows are inserted into repeating table. Thanks!

I'm sorry to have to tell you this - but InfoPath offers no way to do this unless you write custom code, or use an add-in like qRules.

Unless your form is a database bound form? That is, you created the form off the database? But otherwise, the user has to manually insert the rows. If you know the maximum number of tanks you may have, you could by default include the max, then hide any you didn't need.... but you wouldn't be able to set the values for the tank based off the selected warehouse - a rule on the field where the warehouse is selected would end up setting all instances to the same value (again, something that qRules can help with, or you would be able to do with custom code).

Thanks a lot for your advice! You saved me lots of time looking for a solution which doesn't exist :) it's not database bound form.
