Removing Italics from repeating table column heading

I have a repeating table where I entered column heading.  The text defaults to bold and italics but I can't change this.  I was able to change the font size but not the italics or bold.  I've tried selecting the whole row and each column individually but no luck.

Within the ribbon, the B and I are highlighted but when I click on these to remove the formatting, nothing happens.

I must be missing something as there has to be a way to change the formatting.

     Thanks for your help.

I ran into this same problem just a few hours ago.  I could un-bold the text, but couldn't change the italics in the slightest.

I resorted to adding a separate layout table above the repeating table with the same number of columns, but when I tried it again just now, I found that if you click some non-italic text, click the Format Painter button, and then click the header text, you can fix it, so please try that.

    Hey Jimmy,

The Format Painter trick worked!  Thanks!

Oh, thanks, Jimmy! Last time I manually modified the view to fix this. Glad to know there is an alternative.
