    Infopath Browser Forms Timing out.

I have a large checklist style form that links to other views.  Some of the views are quite user-intensive, and require some time to fill out.  Sometimes the user gets up for coffee or bathroom and comes back to finish.

I've had a couple of instances of users entering a lot of data, the form timing out, and then they have to enter it all again.  Needless to say I receive the brunt on their frustration.

Any suggestions on maximizing the timeout time for browser forms?

My suggestion would be to break the form out into more views to optimize performance instead of increasing the timeout in the browser.  Increasing the timeout for the browser forms could lead to some unwanted ramifications down the line.

Well, I've broken it down into enough views.  One view is an order form, so it doesn't really matter how much it's broken down or not.

How do I bump up the timeout time?

You'll need to change the setting in IIS.  Here's how to do it from MS support:

    Increase the connection time-out setting

loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); By default, the IIS connection time-out setting is 120 seconds. To increase the connection time-out setting, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
    2. Right-click the virtual server that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
    3. Click the Web Site tab. Under Connections, type the number of seconds that you want in the Connection time-out box, and then click OK.
