To email certain view when clicking on button from default view.

    Hello,

I have two views, view1(default) and view2. I've dissable the option to change view from the form filler when user is filling out from view1.

I have one button on view1 and I need to have only view2 emailed to the sender.

Any idea? I tried setting rules first change view and then email, but does not seem like working.

     Thank you,

Changing views to send email is a pain. I personally prefer using sections.

    i.e. section1 for filling out

    section2 for emailing

And then just use conditional formatting to hide/show the two sections as necessary,

     Hello,

I'm new to Infopath and working on this issue. I have my forms setup as the original poster. What do you mean by sections? How would you set this up?

    Thanks,

    Hey,

    Glad to help you.

Section is one of the controls you use for your form inputs like text box. So if you expand the control box, you will find section under Containers.

Plese make sure following points to make it work the way you want.

    • add a temp field in your database, say Temp, I set it to text format just to avoid data validation.
    • Took two sections on the default view and pasted both forms in each.
    • Sectiosn must be binded with the Temp field to the database.
    • I set temp by default, say temp = yes
    • on the first section create a formatting rule, condition: if temp=no, Hide the control.
    • put a button on first section, and create action rule, set value of a field, temp = Yes. and other action is submit data by email.
    • on the second section paste the form you just want to show to email recipient.
    • apply rule to second section, condition: if temp=yes, hide the control. (That way when first user is using the form, second section is not visible.

This are few simple steps that can make it work, you can have more than two sections and use temp values as temp is text format.

    I hope it helps.
