Sending Infopath Data to Word Template

    Howdy.

I need help with exporting data from InfoPath to MS word. Here's what I'm trying to achieve:

I have an InfoPath form with various drop-downs that are populated from an SQL database. After the form is completed and submitted, I want the selections made to be exported to a Word template in a document library.

Typical scenario: Lets say I have a 10-page Word document where I need to insert a customer's name and address on various pages. Instead of scrolling through 10 pages, I just need to fill out the customer's name and address once in InfoPath, and have it populate this information to the Word template with all the other generic information.

    Thanks guys.

    Hi Explosive0,

There are a couple ways to do this. You can specify a Word Print View that prints through Word. This is supported out-of-the-box for InfoPath Filler forms. Go to Page Design. Select New View and Word Print View and walk through the configuration dialog.

To export your XML data to a Word template that has XML field-mappings requires more work. We have done this kind of work many times before and we advocate using XSLT to transform the XML into Word's format. Dealing with XSLT is not easy. There are numerous editors though (Visual Studio, XML Spy), but I would allocate ~20 hours to get a prototype working.

    Good luck!
