SharePoint Designer workflow stops if Infopath form is open

We have a office order form in Infopath 2007  and  a SharePoint Designer workflow associated with it.  There is some codes and filters so I can't have it as a browser-enabled form.  The problem is whenever a workflow is sent to the approver, they click on "Edit this task" from the form to approve and it stop my workflow.  Our document library does not have check in/check out enabled.  I also tried to wrap a check out/check in around each step but it's not working either.  The managers need to see the form before the approve so is there a way to either hide the "edit this task" button, force the Infopath form to close, or to have the workflow wait for the form to be check in?

     Thanks!

I was just checking to see how you solved this problem.  I'm having the same issue.

    Hi

In SPD WF's there is an option to do an 'If' statement which could relate to either the completing of the next step or to check if the document is checked out.  Allied to this is a 'Wait for N minutes/hours/days' which is always to a good one to add to the mix.

I think a combination of 'wait for a bit' then 'If checked out, wait until it gets checked back in' followed by then pause for a bit more (perhaps only 1 minute) should help in the circumstances.

I hope the above helps, however please add more detail regarding the process if you think we can help more.

    Regards  Alan C.

As I mentioned,  I tried wrapping the entire workflow in with a check in/check out action but it still does not solve the problem.  I even try adding the check in/check out action every time it writes to SharePoint but that still did not fully solve the problem.  Since my approvers do not need to edit the form, I change their permission to read-only in the SharePoint document library and that seem to fix the problem.  I hope that helps!

Thank you for writing back to me.  I tried what you suggested and I just gave the approvers read access to the forms library and it worked.
