    Submit to Sharepoint List

I have followed all the steps to creating an infopath form that submits to a sharepoint list. When I perform the submit, I get no error messages but the the sharepoint list is not updated with the data.

I am attaching my mapping file.

Is there anything in the sharepoint admin that might restrict this?

The person submitting needs to have permissions to add items to the list - I'm assuming you are talking about qRules since you attached a mapping file? What is your command? Can you attach your form template?

Hi Hilary. Thanks for the response this morning to my previous question about installing qrules. I was able to get the product working.

I do have permissions to add ( I am actually an administrator on the site) to the list. Attached is my form template.

    Thanks for the help.

    Happy to help.

Your command looks correct in your button rule. Your mapping looks fine.

But it seems that your form has custom code outside of qRules - and, in fact, qRules has been disabled by the addition of code. Is the custom code intentional? Or did you accidentally add it?

If you want to have custom code and use qRules, that is possible - let me know and I'll get you a link to a document explaining how to set this up.

Otherwise, from Tool / Form Options / Programming (for IP 2007) or File / Info / Form Options / Programming (for IP 2010), select Remove Code then reinject your template with qRules again.

Drag the Error node from the Qdabra Rules data source onto your form so that if you get an error, you can post it here.

A quick way to make sure qRules is injected and working correctly is to drag the Command and Result nodes from the Qdabra Rules data source onto your form and preview. Type GenerateGuid into the Command field and tab out - you should see the Command field set back to blank, and a GUID in the Result node. If you don't, something is still not set up right.

Ok. I think we are getting closer but I am still not getting any data in the list. I have removed the code from the form and reinjected the rules. The GenerateGUID function worked as you mentioned.

I am getting an error "Failed to select node for Sharepoint List ID. I am not exactly sure what I should be putting in this parameter in the command. Will this error cause the data not to be populated?

Yup, the error will cause that.

And I missed that on your command when I looked at the form. You need to use the full path: /my:Quote/my:Quote_main/my:Header/my:id

So, your /id parameter should look like:

    /id=/my:Quote/my:Quote_main/my:Header/my:id

Thanks Hilary. I was able to get the list updated. my last issue is my mix of IP2007 and IP2010 on my pc. It will only work when running 2010.   Thanks for your help.

    Re: Submit to Sharepoint List

qRules, on injection, uses the InfoPath dll specific to your form - so if your form is IP 2010 and you save as IP 2007, you need to re-inject.

As an aside - I have had horrible luck with running more than one version of InfoPath on a single machine - I just keep virtual machines with different versions and the latest installed on my physical machine.

Hilary. Thanks for all your help . I have been able to update 2 different share-point lists from my form.

I promise this is the last question (for today at least) and I am hoping this is an easy one.

In my form schema, I have a header section (quote) and a detail section (Item_Detail).  When I map the fields (qrules mapping tool) of the detail section, I do not know how to map the id field that links the header and detail. In my case, the quote_no is the field I want to send to the sharepoint list (but this field is not visible in the schema of my detail repeating section).

    Does this question make sense?

     Screenshot is attached.

    Re: Submit to Sharepoint List

Okay - so you need to manually add the relative XPath to that field. In the Form Field column on the form, you should be able to manually type in that field. Your XPath will look like:

    ../my:Quote_No

Which is the relative path from the Item Details group to the Quote_No field.
