Help: Submit a Repeating table data to Sharepoint

    Hi ,

I have a repeating table in my Infopath 2007 browser enabled form template. I need to submit the rows of the repeating table to a sharepoint list.  I had trouble getting into the code, and finally tackled this.

I followed this link http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/how-to-submit-items-rows-repeating-table-infopath-sharepoint-list.htm.  I read several other posts within this forum regarding a product available for free trial.  As of now, I cannot download the program on my work machine.  This may be a venue for a later discussion, though.  For now, I am resorting to the website.

I am getting the following error when I click submit on the form.
    System.Net.WebException
    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:
Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.
<detail><errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)</errorstring></detail>
       at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Internal.MomExceptionHelper.ExecuteDataConnectionAction(OMCall d)
       at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Internal.WebServiceConnectionHost.Execute()
       at Exceptions_v1.FormCode.CTRL3_5_Clicked(Object sender, ClickedEventArgs e)
       at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Internal.ButtonEventHost.OnButtonClick(DocActionEvent pEvent)
       at Microsoft.Office.Interop.InfoPath.SemiTrust._ButtonEventSink_SinkHelper.OnClick(DocActionEvent pEvent)

Does the location of my XML file have to be a certain place?  The website does not specify this.  I was guessing this was the error due to the log, "cannot find the file specified"

Any direction or help would be great.  I am new and just following steps.  Thanks.

Does the form fail in preview? Or just when opened in the browser?

If it fails in preview, you can debug your code to get a better idea of what is going wrong and where. Here's a blog post on that, in case you need to know how to debug.

    Hi Hilary,

    Thanks for your quick respose.

In preview mode, I attempted to debug it.  I received an error at the line, see attached.

I have yet to try this in browser mode.  Please inform if this error helps.

     Thanks.

See the link under Actions that says "View Detail"?

Click that, see if there is more / better error info.

    Thanks,

I am trying to deduce something from the "View Detail"  Trying to find all the declarations and see if I am missing anything.  Mainly because of the error msg: (The system cannot find the file specified)

Is the List name incorrect?  I did not encapsulate in { }.  If I am reading the declarations correctly, is the GUID stored as Nothing?  I may be off base, but trying anything to resolve the problem.

Is the XML file in a correct location?  I didn't see anything in the website "how to" on the location of where to save XML file.

I am attaching the View Detail, well a portion.  If needed, I can send the rest.

     Thanks

What is the full text from the message - it appears to hold more text than the original error message.

System.Net.WebException was unhandled by user code
      Message="InfoPath cannot submit the form.

The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

Line 83 is where my DataConnections segment is located.

I am having trouble finding the location of the XML file reference and/or the List= ID in this.  Am I interpreting this correctly?  Is this a reference for all variable attributes?

    Thanks.

Sorry, that was redundant of me.

Okay, so searching on this error message returns some results. Is your list that you are submitting to on a subsite? If so, did you include that in the URL for your data connection to the UpdateListItem method?

Your list name will be (if you are following the tutorial you linked to) from your main data source and set up in the submit connection - you set the value for that, right?

If you want me to take a quick look at your template, just attach it to a reply....

Re: Help: Submit a Repeating table data to Sharepoint

No worries, this is my fault.  I am still new.  I found a youtube video walkthru for Qdabra software.

Okay, so searching on this error message returns some results. Is your list that you are submitting to on a subsite? This resolved the issue.   I had the subsite and <Site> url incorrect.  My work has different subsites and I was unaware of that as a beginner.   But playing with multiple combinations led me to this.  Thank you!  You have been a great help, really great.

May I start another Q&A about doing a combing this method with a multi-selection box.  I would like the user to select item 1 in a multi-selection box, then items 2+ will apply to each selection in item 1.  Is breaking the attributes to each selection in item 1 possible? Or is a merged field only venue for the user?   Thanks

By all means, ask away - that's what the site is for - But I am confused by the question, so you'll want to add more detail.... :-)
